DENVER, Colo. – Harvest Strategy Group is proud of the incredible work being done by so many charitable organizations both locally in Denver and nationally. This summer, Harvest is supporting two incredible charities that impact its local and national community—Heart & Hand Center for Youth and Their Families and The National Urban League.
“Harvest Strategy Group has always focused on teamwork not only internally but in our communities. Through difficult times, we must work together to stay whole. Heart and Hand and the National Urban League focus on supporting marginalized communities in the U.S. today and we are proud to support them,” said David Ravin, Executive Vice President at Harvest Strategy Group.
A Helping Heart and Hand
The Heart & Hand Center for Youth and Their Families began in Denver, CO and is one of the most impactful charity organizations in the city. Founded by Nikki Cady in her garage to help local children have a place to stay after school, Heart & Hand now supports hundreds of children across the city every day. What began as peanut butter sandwiches and art projects quickly grew into structured after-school programming offered at schools throughout Denver.
Heart & Hand is known locally for its incredible afterschool programs to help youth transition from school to home while their parents are at work, but has since expanded to provide summer programs, career and college readiness workshops, and even family development help. The Heart & Hand Center now supports nearly 300 students across four programs and three sites.
An Urban Movement
On the national stage, cultural divides and conflict continue to spread. The National Urban League (NUL), a historic civil rights organization dedicated to economic empowerment in order to elevate the standard of living in historically underserved urban communities, continues to drive education and advocacy initiatives. Founded in 1910 in New York City, NUL works through 90 affiliates serving 300 communities in 37 states and the District of Columbia, providing direct services that impact and improve the lives of more than two million people nationwide.
The NUL provides hundreds of national and locally focused programs including college preparatory classes, mentoring activities, STEM education, parental enrichment activities, workforce skills development, training in starting new businesses, and many more. Since its inception, NUL has provided help to over 24 million Americans and placed people in over 245 thousand jobs.
